graduated from The Arts Faculty at Comenius University, majoring in sociology. She devoted to her master’s thesis to the issue of developing social services on the local level. Between 2001 and 2005 she worked as a researcher and analyst with the Institute for Public Affairs where she participated in several projects aimed at exploring the situation of the Roma in Slovakia. In 2005 she was among co-founders of the Centre for the Research of Ethnicity and Culture to which she has remained loyal until now. In her work, she focuses on different aspects of the status of ethnic and religious minorities in Slovakia. She is interested in exploring the possibilities of migrants’ participation on the local level, but she is also keen on analysing the general public’s attitudes to minorities. She is the author and co-author of numerous publications on these issues. When away from work, Jana loves to spend time with her husband and two children who take up much more space in her life than in this brief profile.
