We join the call of civil society organisations on irregular migration in transit

Together with other civil society organisations (Amnesty international Slovakia, People in Need, Equita, Human Rights League, Mareena, Milan Šimečka Foundation, Slovak Red Cross, Slovak Humanitarian Council, Slovak Catholic Charity, St. Elizabeth College of Health and Social Work), we have appealed to the Government of the Slovak Republic to urgently implement solutions that respect the human rights and dignity of people in a migratory situation who are in the territory of Slovakia. Specifically:

📌ensure access to life-saving services – food, health care, sanitation, material needs, shelter and comprehensible information,
📌provide special support for particularly vulnerable groups – women, children, etc,
📌revise and implement the Contingency Plan for irregular, transit migration,
📌support local governments in preparing solutions at local level – with expert guidance and practical (personnel, material and financial),
📌 integrate solutions to smuggling into the plan to address irregular, transit migration,
📌 set up sensitive communication on the situation to avoid increasing tensions in society.

We stand ready to be instrumental in providing these solutions.
